This sanaa mountain journal set is one of the first purchases that I made from Mercy House Global Online Marketplace. I’m a sucker for a new note book with smooth crisp pages and a creaseless spine. But, I am also moved by the message behind these art-inspired journals, for they were made to help move mountains.
Made to Live in Faith
Mercy House rescues pregnant teens from some of the largest slums in the world. They welcome them into maternity homes where they receive pre- and post-natal care, as well as other support to heal from the horrors they’ve experienced. Then, they are equipped with vocational skills so that they can earn a dignified income to support themselves and their child.

Sanaa means “work of art” in Swahili. The print used for the cover was created during one of their art camps. The girls from Mercy House gathered not only to paint mountains, but to climb them, too.
They are survivors of poverty, starvation, homelessness, rape and human trafficking. Painting mountains with watercolours and accenting them with bits of gold foil was an exercise in creativity and in faith.

Moved to Climb
It takes faith to move mountains.
It takes faith to keep climbing when the steepness of the incline seems unscalable. But God shows up where faith meets impossible.
Many times, when God is trying to teach us something or take us deeper in our faith, he shakes our comfort and security, and for a while it feels dark, scary, and uncertain. But he is with us in the darkness, whispers fear not in our ears, takes our hand, and invites us to climb.

As an Ambassador for Mercy House Global, I cannot tell you how excited I am to add this book to my collection. These stories have literally changed my life and my perspective of how I see the world.
Painting mountains helped to bring healing. The sales of the journals helps to bring in money to operate the maternity and transition homes.
And if you need proof that God is a God of restoration and miracles, take a closer look at the cover of this book.
One of the Kenyan teen moms painted this watercolour at the art camp. She had a desire to become a professional artist, and now she has earned 6 months living expenses for the use of her painting on the book. Her dreams came true!
I decided to use this sanaa journal set to keep my notes and quotes from “Made to Move Mountains.” I hope you will join me in reading this book!
