It was love at first sight when I saw these coconut earrings in the Fall Collection of Color of Hope!
But this artisan-crafted jewelry carries a story that goes back to 2013 in Lindi, Tanzania, where a group of women met together “with a hope and prayer to unite the church.”
They called themselves Mama Wa Nuru, which means “Women of Light.”
Now, a united group of six women gather to collect coconuts from local Tanzanian trees and repurpose the shells to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry.
These women are using the income they earn to provide for their families.
I love these stories. God moves. He shapes, and He restores.
“A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth.”
Isaiah 42:3
God does not cast us away. He repurposes our weaknesses and failures.
